Thomas R. Zengage, Chairman & CEO
Thomas R. Zengage completed his undergraduate degree studying Chinese at Columbia College, Columbia University in the City of New York and after graduate studies in Japanese completed his MBA at the University of Washington in Seattle. Fluent in Japanese, Thomas has had an extensive career in strategy consulting and corporate communications in Tokyo. He began his career as principal shareholder and CEO of Japan’s pioneering strategy and investor relations consulting firm, IBI, Inc. Ultimately selling IBI to global advertising agency WPP/Ogilvy, he was successively named Japan senior managing director of Ogilvy PR Japan, Edelman PR Japan, and Pacific Communicators in Tokyo. Mr. Zengage later completed an LBO of the IR division of the firm (IBI) he previously sold to WPP/Ogilvy, spinning it off as Investor Impact, Inc. Today, Investor Impact supports the IR programs of blue-chip Japanese corporations, while also undertaking complex situations strategy and public relations programs for non-Japanese clients. Mr. Zengage is the author of two books, The Japanese Century (London: Longman / The Financial Times) and Sore Demo Yen No Seiki (Tokyo: Kodansha). Mr. Zengage’s career has included serving as an independent director of a Tokyo Stock Exchange listed company and angel investor in innovative startups.
