Thomas R. Zengage, Chairman & CEO
Mr. Zengage earned his undergraduate degree in Chinese at Columbia University and after graduate studies in Japanese he completed his MBA at the University of Washington. Fluent in Japanese, he has had an extensive career in consulting and strategic communications in Tokyo. He began his career as principal shareholder and CEO of Japan’s pioneering strategy consulting firm, IBI. Ultimately selling IBI to global ad agency WPP/Ogilvy, he was successively named Japan CEO of Ogilvy PR, Edelman PR, and Pacific Communicators. Mr. Zengage completed an LBO of the IR division of the firm (IBI) he previously sold to WPP/Ogilvy, spinning it off as Investor Impact. Today, Investor Impact supports the IR programs of blue-chip Japanese corporations, while Pacific Communicators focuses on strategy and PR programs for global clients. Mr. Zengage is the author of two books, The Japanese Century (London: The Financial Times / Longman) and Sore Demo Yen No Seiki (Tokyo: Kodansha). Mr. Zengage’s career has included serving as an independent director of a Tokyo Stock Exchange listed company and angel investor in innovative startups.
